Eight fire crews tackled the blaze at Coolkit in July
Fire investigators have revealed the cause of a huge blaze which ripped through an industrial unit in Burnley.
Coolkit, which is described as the UK’s largest specialist in temperature-controlled van conversions, transferred its operations to its other base while bosses looked for new premises. The company has now signed an agreement for a 75,000 sq ft site eight miles away in Whitebirk, Blackburn.Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service launched an investigation after the fire and LancsLive can now reveal their conclusions.
After the fire Coolkit's founder and chief executive Rupert Gatty put out an urgent appeal for new premises. East Lancashire’s business community rallied to CoolKit’s support, and the company found an ideally situated site in Thornley Avenue, off Carl Fogarty Way, which was previously the home of Kenyon Transport.
Plans to expand Coolkit's workforce were put on hold following the fire but this is expected to be restarted this year. A shuttle bus service will be provided for existing staff who are unable to travel from Burnley to Blackburn.
