The fire broke out on the top floors of a Hilton Hotel construction site
Freelance reporter and late editor, near the city’s Millennium Square, at about 7.50pm.
Loud explosions can be heard coming from the building as well and people have been evacuated from bars in the city centre. Over 80 firefighters are battling the blaze, which is currently engulfing the top three top of the building, and ten fire engines are at the scene. A safety cordon has been put in place by the fire service which said the structure is “potentially unsafe”.
