A local family desperate for home healthcare for their infant daughter found the help they needed and is finally able to bring her home from her extended stay in the hospital.

People say having two kids under 2 years old is a handful, but for Rachel and Jason Moore, they have full hearts. We first met the Moore family in June.“Naomi was born with an omphalocele,” Rachel Moore said. “Her abdominal organs are on the outside of her body. She was also born with an ASD [atrial septal defect] which is a hole in her heart.”

However, they couldn’t find any eligible nurses who could fill the position, which is why they reached out to News 5. But when the first story aired, News 5 viewers responded. Emails and calls flooded the newsroom from people who wanted to help.

A 123-year-old landmark San Antonio home is for sale after nearly being torn downA 123-year-old landmark San Antonio home is for sale after nearly being torn downThe prospects for this Queen Anne-style home a block from the Alamodome looked dim until late 2020, when the city's Office of Historic Preservation began working to declare it an East Side landmark. Once boarded up and scheduled for demolition, the 125-year-old property has since landed that historical designation. Now fully restored, it hit the market a week ago for $849,900. Local preservationists stepped in to save the 2,900-square-foot home because it was designed by renowned architect Frederick Bowen Gaenslen, the Express-News reported in 2020. Gaenslen's other work includes the Incarnate Word Chapel, St. Anthony Catholic School and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Also adding to its historic significance, the five-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath residence was built for Nicholas Lee Petrich, a lumber magnate who helped fuel much of San Antonio's 1920s building boom, the daily also reported. This home is listed by Andy Patlan with Team Elite Group. All photos by Realtor.com.
