Australians have flocked to pre-polling booths and embraced postal voting this campaign with a third of ballots already cast and a record number of citizens expected to vote before May 21.
Early voting opened on May 9 for those who cannot make it to the booths on Saturday, while registration for postal voting closed at 8pm on Wednesday.
Two days out from the election there were already 3.87 million votes cast across 500 early voting centres around the country and 2.68 million postal vote applications received, according to the Australian Electoral Commission. If the current trends continue it is likely half of all votes counted will be cast before polling day on Saturday.
