Chris Hartline, a spokesperson for Scott, said Thursday that the FBI “has reached out and is working on scheduling a briefing with Senator Scott in the next few weeks.” When incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson, a Democrat, made a similar assertion last year, Scott assailed him on the campaign trail, demanding proof and calling the comment “irresponsible.” Scott, a Republican and governor at the time, unseated Nelson in November.
