MELBOURNE - Australian cricketer James Faulkner caused confusion about his sexuality on social media on Tuesday after posting a picture of himself having dinner with “the boyfriend” before later clarifying he was “not gay”.
Global media, including Britain’s Daily Mail and The Guardian, reported that Faulkner had become the first Australian cricketer to “come out”. “There seems to be a misunderstanding about my post from last night, I am not gay, however it has been fantastic to see the support from and for the LBGT community,” Faulkner wrote in a follow-up post on Instagram.
“His comment was made as a genuine reflection of his relationship with his business partner, best friend and house mate of five years,” CA spokeswoman Karina Keisler said.
