An apparently speeding pickup truck slammed into an apartment complex in North Long Beach Tuesday night, March 1, killing a father and his 3-year-old daughter, police said, with the suspect fleeing.
Police were searching for the driver of a 2014 Dodge Ram truck, described as a man about 20 to 25 years old. He was traveling north in the 6600 block of Rose Avenue, just north of Artesia Boulevard, when, for unknown reasons, he veered off of the street, police said. The pickup crashed into the complex and struck multiple people inside at about 10 p.m., police said. It wasn’t immediately clear how many others were injured.Officers and good Samaritans attempted to help the victims until paramedics arrived, police said.The victims’ identities were not made public by police pending notification of their relatives.
