Plans for over 100 new homes on farmland at the edge of Morecambe have prompted numerous objections and fears about traffic, landscape loss and noise from trains on railway lines.
However, over 100 objections have been sent to the city council, plus objections from Morecambe Town Council and Slyne with Hest Parish Council.A city council planning report states: “The application site relates to a roughly triangular shaped piece of agricultural land of two fields. It is located within the parish of Slyne with Hest but adjacent to the existing built-up area of Morecambe, specifically Torrisholme.
Other objections have included a plan to in-fill a bridge under a railway line and further increased pressure to build in the area. However, planning officers are recommending approval with various conditions. They say the outline plan is acceptable and any harm will be mitigated by the public benefit from the new homes. Details of the estate layout and house designs will come in future. But an illustration has been submitted along with the application.
