Joseph and Heidi Scaravilli and the estates of their daughters— Scout, 14, and Chasey, 12— accused Eagles Nest Outfitters of knowing its product was dangerous but continued to market the hammocks as safe and easy to install anywhere.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Family members of two Cleveland Heights girls who died after a pile of bricks collapsed on them while they lay on a hammock sued the hammock-maker this week, claiming the company knew the product was unsafe.

“Scout and Chasey’s deaths represent two more tragedies in the long line of severe injuries and deaths associated with the use of these hammocks,” Scaravilli family attorney Frank Galluci said. “And it begs the question: How many people need to be injured or killed before these companies will stop marketing these hammocks in this fashion and provide adequate warnings.”and The Plain Dealer reached out to Eagles Nest Outfitters attorneys Laura Hong and C.
