The family of 27-year-old Joshua Ray Blackwood held a vigil in the alley way near 1100 Fir Street.
“We would go for walks with his dog. We would go down to Golden Gardens. I’d watch him ride his motorcycle,” Ward said.“Really, just watching movies and spending time with him. And his dog and my dog. And sometimes…(Danielle interrupts ‘eat strawberry shortcake.’ It was his favorite,” Cross said.“We’re here because of a senseless crime that somebody decided to take his life,” Ward said.
Ward says Joshua’s girlfriend wasn’t able to get a hold of him, but when she saw the coverage of the shooting and when she saw the area it was in, she had a horrible feeling.The other person shot showed up to the vigil Sunday, lighting several candles and spending time with the family. Ward hopes police can find the person who did this soon.Because she wishes her son was still here.If anyone has any information on the case, they are urged to call the SPD tip line at 206-233-5000.
