Nottinghamshire Police have now released Deon Samra's custody photograph
This is Deon Samra, who led police on a terrifying high-speed chase from Nottingham to Derby while high on drink and drugs. During the 15-minute pursuit, the heavily-convicted 21-year-old father reached 115 mph on the A52 near Borrowash , jumped a number of red lights and lost control on the right hand bend into Derby on Brian Clough Way at Spondon , which he took speeding at almost 100mph.
Sending Samra to jail, Judge Nirmal Shant KC said: “It is undoubtedly the case that for a significant period of time you drove extremely dangerously. There can be no doubt this was a case where you made a deliberate decision to ignore the rules of the road. Matt Hayes, prosecuting last week at the same court, played CCTV of the pursuit, which began at 4.15am on November 11, 2023. It showed Deon Samra sitting in the driver’s seat at a red light by the Queen’s Medical Centre and then speeding towards Derby on the A52 being chased by a police car with its blue lights illuminated and siren sounding.
