FalconAndWinterSoldier star Wyatt Russell is open to returning as U.S. Agent in the future: 'Anytime I get the opportunity or hear about the chance to reprise a character or work for Marvel again, it’s very exciting because the people are wonderful.'
Wyatt Russell opens up about his experience working on The Falcon and the Winter Solider and shares if he would be willing to return to the MCU as U.S. Agent. Acting is somewhat of a family game for Russell, whose parents are legendary screen actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and whose half-sister is Kate Hudson. Some of those acting chops are clearly genetic, as Russell has carved a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors.
Russell's most well-known turn, however, was as the disgraced Captain American replacement in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Appearing in the show from episode 1, Russell’s John Walker was the individual chosen by the U.S. government to take up the mantle after Steve Rogers gave it up in Avengers: Endgame. However, Walker soon proved to be unfit to carry the shield. After killing publicly in the course of a mission, he was stripped of the title, eventually taking up the name U.S Agent.
I really enjoy playing the character and my experience working with Marvel was an unbelievable working experience and collaborative, working with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan and Kari Skogland. The teams they have there are unbelievable, it’s why they make great things. So, anytime I get the opportunity or hear about the chance to reprise a character or work for Marvel again, it’s very exciting because the people are wonderful. So, hopefully, I’ll get to do it again. We’ll see.
This could mean that Russell will make his next return alongside The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-star Mackie in the announced Captain America 4. The combination of Mackie’s Captain America and Russell’s U.S. Agent proved effective in stopping the serum-induced Flag Smashers in the show’s last episode, and it would be interesting to see that team-up in other films.
Another appearance in a Marvel property could be just the right step for Russell, whose career is on an upwards trend. After The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, his next appearance on the small screen was in Dustin Lance Black’s Under the Banner of Heaven, where he appeared alongside Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones, receiving generally favorable reviews.
