Stuart McKinstry made two appearances for Leeds United during his time at Elland Road
Former Leeds United youngster Stuart McKinstry is on the verge of joining Scottish outfit Queen's Park, according to reports. McKinstry has been a free agent since being released by the Whites in the summer and has picked up interest from number of lower league EFL clubs.
McKinstry spent last season on loan at boyhood club Motherwell, where he enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at a senior level and worked his way into the Scotland Under-21 international picture. He made 20 league appearances for the Scottish Premiership club, scoring four goals along the way including one against Rangers.
Ultimately, though, his form north of the border wasn’t enough to persuade Leeds that he deserved a new contract at Elland Road and he was released in the summer. McKinstry managed to make two senior appearances in the first-team at Leeds, both of which came under Marcelo Bielsa back in 2021. According to the Record report, McKinstry is a fan of the style of football played by Robin Veldman’s outfit and after their rapid rise through the Scottish leagues, there has been big improvements made at the club.
