Gregory Love is accused of illegally collecting a pension and a salary at the same time.
BROADMOOR – Former Broadmoor police Chief Gregory Love has pleaded not guilty to grand theft charges filed in the wake of a 2021 CalPERS audit that found he illegally collected a pension while continuing to serve on the force, according to prosecutors.
According to the CalPERS audit, Love retired on May 16, 2009, but he continued to serve as chief of police from May 17, 2009, to Dec. 1, 2012. He reportedly received compensation equivalent to a full-time salary while collecting retirement benefits. Three other chiefs and commanders engaged in similar conduct, including David Parenti, according to the Bee.
