An entire week dedicated to celebrating intendent venues is coming to several Liverpool bars and clubs this week.
They are encouraging fans to share their experiences by posting photos and videos online using the #IVW23 and #10YearsofIVW hashtags. Acts performing include Liverpool-based pop musician Eleanor Nelly and the Beatles-inspired Jonny Ash band.There will also be dedicated programmes across the week on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Music Introducing further highlighting venues and new acts.
Sybil Bell, founder of Independent Venue Week said: “We’re beyond excited to have reached 10 years of shining a spotlight on our amazing community who work so tirelessly year round. With such amazing support from our partners, we are able to have a nationwide celebration of independent and unique spaces in every nook and cranny of the country whilst helping nurture new talent on and off stage.
IVW has musicians as ambassadors for the event every year, which in the past has included Wet Leg of which Formby-born Rhian Teasdale is the lead singer. Radiohead's Phillip Selway said he was "honoured" to be one of the ambassadors this year. He said: "This past decade has seen IVW do incredible work in supporting and nurturing this vital musical community of independent venues.
