does something savvier. As brilliantly played by Dunst and Williams, the girls aren’t especially obtuse; they’re completely average teenagers, peppy and sunny and innocent enough to believe that they can convince Nixon to pull out of Vietnam by telling him, “I just think people would like it better if you stopped the war.” They swoon over McDonald’s fries and pop idols and, for a while, the president himself. They care much more about dogs than democracy.
