'We just survive and hope': Even Lancashire's most affluent streets struggle to escape interest rate fear
The cost of living crisis has had a huge impact on households throughout the UK. And tough times don't appear to be ending any time soon.
"There's a lot of people that have got health problem, families and may be one of them is working in a low-paid job." "I think cafes and restaurants are where people seem to be spending most of their time - sitting, eating and drinking, rather than retail. I don't know how that affects the cost of living crisis, because you'd think if people didn't have the money to actually pay bills, they wouldn't go into cafes and restaurants to eat."
The Bank of England has increased the base rate of interest to 5.0 per cent in a move that will bring mortgage misery to millions. It’s the 13th time in a row that rates have been increased as the Bank of England tries to curb inflation.
