Move over Thor.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Marvel's Children of the Vault are stronger than ever before, and their return brings several familiar, dangerous faces – including Martillo, a post-human who wields a hammer so powerful that it is capable of crushing Colossus, and even taking down his fellow Children.

Children of the Vault #1 – by Deniz Camp, Luca Maresca, and Carlos Lopez – sees the hammer-wielding Martillo and his fellow post-humans freed from their pods inside the Vault, where they have been locked as punishment for the Children's aggressive attacks against mutants. There, they lived in a dream of a world where they ruled; now they have emerged in a reality that still needs to be conquered.

Martillo's Hammer Elevates the Children to a New Level During their struggle in X-Men #15, Martillo hit Colossus with such force that he practically folded backward. It took him down, leaving Piotr vulnerable to another attack by the fire-wielding Fuego. Considering Colossus exists in a class of heavy hitters like The Thing, Juggernaut, and the Hulk, the Children are ready to face Marvel's biggest brawlers.

Unlike weapons like Mjolnir, it isn't limited to one wielder, either. In X-Men Legacy #241 by Mike Carey, Clay Mann, Mike Mayhew, and Tom Raney, Magneto uses the hammer against Martillo and several other Children while saying, "I commend your choice of weapon." That it can be used to take down its owner and his team makes the hammer a threat all on its own, which could work in the Children's favor or to their detriment.

Martillo has been a member of the Children of the Vault since their introduction, and he has returned time and time again to further their cause and help take what is theirs – the world and everything in it. He has proven that he stands toe-to-toe with Colossus, one of the strongest X-Men, and comes out victorious, further showcasing that the post-humans won't be easily subdued or tucked away in dreamland again.
