Captain Marvel isn't powerful enough to beat the ultimate Super-Skrull.

But, there’s one opponent even Carol will admit she’s no match for: the ultimate Super-Skrull.
Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has had a long and arduous history with the Skrulls in Marvel lore, as her Kree heritage inherently put her at odds with the alien shape-shifters. However, her fairly consistent conflict with the Skrulls was never as pronounced as during the Marvel Comics crossover event Secret Invasion.
Captain Marvel Wasn’t Stronger Than The Ultimate Super-Skrull, But She Was Smarter In Ms. Marvel #30 by Brian Reed, Adriana Melo, and Paulo Siqueira, Carol is in the middle of clearing New York City of the not-so-secret Super-Skrull invasion, when her attention is drawn to the ultra-maximum security prison known as the Raft. When she got there, Carol found a Super-Skrull who was clearly way more powerful than all the others.
Captain Marvel getting hurt even when she’s the one attacking an opponent is incredibly shocking, and just goes to show how immensely strong this villain truly is. However, Captain Marvel isn’t one of the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe because of her raw strength alone, she’s also a brilliant tactician. During this comic, Carol learned that this creature’s fellow Super-Skrulls trapped him within the Raft on purpose, as even they didn’t want to deal with him during the invasion.
It isn’t every day a villain of this magnitude is introduced in Marvel Comics, and it’s more of a rarity to see one who even Captain Marvel can’t eventually overpower one-on-one. But, this issue did just that, as Captain Marvel herself admits she’s not powerful enough to beat the ultimate Super-Skrull.
