A seven-year-old girl has suffered life-threatening injuries in a suspected drive-by shooting outside a central London church.
A remembrance service was being held at St Aloysius Church in Euston when shots were reportedly fired from a moving vehicle on Saturday afternoon.The 48-year-old may have life-changing injuries, police said.
In a statement, the Met said an urgent investigation was under way and details of the incident were still emerging.Supt Ed Wells said any shooting incident was "unacceptable, but for multiple people, including two children, to be injured in a shooting in the middle of a Saturday afternoon is shocking".The shooting happened close to a church while a funeral was taking place, police say
He added that there would be "an increased visible police presence in the area through the weekend and into the days ahead".Road closures were put in place and buses were diverted to allow investigation work to take place. Father Trood said: "I was inside the church. I heard the bang and people ran back into the church. They knew something had happened outside.
