The snake bot is designed for versatility, capable of navigating liquids, tight spaces, and ocean-like terrains with its flexible structure.EELS' components include perception head, shape actuators linking body segments, screws on modules, and a tether for data/power transfer.Due to the possibility of the presence of subterranean oceans, astrobiological interest in ice worlds is growing.
According to the team, it is made flexible enough to navigate through liquids, fluidized media, confined labyrinthine spaces, and terrain inspired by the ocean. Capable of traversing icy landscapes like the Snowpiercer train, EELS was created to gather information from Enceladus’s varied hydrogeologic characteristics and independently examine samples for signs of life.
