Twitter employees have filed a class-action lawsuit against the company over CEO Elon Musk’s recently-announced plan to lay off half of the staff, or about 3,700 workers, with little to no notice.
If Musk’s layoffs are found to be in violation of the WARN Act, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s been in violation of federal labor laws. Tesla has been the subjectby workers who say that the company’s California warehouse is a site of constant harassment for Black and female workers, who say they face horrific racism and sexual harassment, respectively, at work.
Meanwhile, media experts have raised concerns over Musks’s plans for Twitter, especially in regard to his plans, anti-semites, and other members with far right ideologies onto the platform with little to no oversight, in the supposed name of free speech.
