Sam Yebri concedes LA City Council seat to Katy Young Yaroslavsky
Sam Yebri conceded the race for the LA City Council’s 5th District seat to Katy Young Yaroslavsky on Tuesday, Nov. 15 after Yaroslavsky expanded her lead on Monday to more than 10,000 votes.
Yaroslavsky took a leave of absence from L.A. County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s office in September 2021 to campaign after years of working for Kuehl as senior policy director for the environment and the arts. In the June primary, this Westside council district of well-off and working-class communities that meanders from Bel Air to Palms, Pico-Robertson, Greater Wilshire and Mid-City West, voted 28,000 for Yaroslavsky to Yebri’s 17,000.
