Elba defenders Johnson and Adkins combined to stuff Sims for a safety on the first Providence offensive play, giving the Tigers a 16-7 lead.The ensuing Providence free kick was fielded at the 40 by Elba’s Cameron Gray, who flipped it back to Henderson behind him.
Henderson threw a 27-yard halfback pass to Brady Johnson, who made a nice outstretched finger-tip catch in the end zone, for the first score. After Elba’s defense stopped a fourth-down gamble by PCS, Henderson scored on a 12-yard run for the second tally. After an interception and return by Cody Gray, the Tigers scored on the half’s final play when Johnson, after a high snap, fired to a wide open Jacob Watkins behind the PCS defense on a 71-yard TD pass.
