Scotland could facing 'chaotic weather' due to El Nino
According to a meteorologist, Britain is heading into "unprecedented" territory due to the weather phenomenon which occurs every three to seven years. El Nino happens when the Pacific Ocean heats up more than usual, raising global temperatures as a result.
Detailing what the "chaotic occurrences" may mean, the forecaster explained the UK could experience temperatures as high as 21C in February, with severe thunderstorms becoming more common. Director of the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, Carlo Buontempo, added: "El Nino is normally associated with record-breaking temperatures at the global level."
