The El Camino Real volleyball player lost her mother to cancer in August. The Alemany girls volleyball team recently honored Hazelton and her mother before the two teams faced off.

“Volleyball is a small community and I just want all of us to kind of unite,” Alemany coach Morgan Wijay said. “I told El Camino Real, you’re a great family, but you have a family here.” The unity was felt even before the match started as the Warriors presented each of the Royals’ seniors with a flower during player announcements.
After the game, Alemany gifted a teary-eyed Hazelton a journal filled with notes from individual players.
