Eisenhower Public Library, serving Norridge and Harwood Heights, is turning 50, and will hold a Sunday, Oct. 1 festival with activities for all ages.
It was 1973, an era of bell bottoms, rock music and long hair for all when Eisenhower Public Library opened to serve Norridge and Harwood Heights.
The Kid’s Zone will give those who weren’t born until much, much later than 1973 a chance to play games and do crafts. The library invites residents to wear groovy ‘70s attire for its costume parade and take a selfie in its photo booth. The library will be closed for service but it will offer crafts and free donuts from Allegretti’s Bakery.Among the many things the library has been doing to salute its 50th anniversary is to feature Billboard Top 100 songs from 1973 on its website.
According to previous Chicago Tribune reporting, the City of Chicago provided library services for Norridge and Harwood Heights
