Rob Edwards believes new signing Rey Manaj will add 'dynamism' to the Hornets' attacking play WatfordFC
In signing Albanian international striker Rey Manaj, head coach Rob Edwards says Watford have captured a player “who will fit into the style of football we want to play”.
The 25-year-old joined from Barcelona for an undisclosed fee today, and Edwards stressed Manaj fits the bill with regard to what he is looking for.“He’s strong and technically very, very good. He’s good at getting hold of the ball with his back to goal, and holding onto it. He’ll bring a bit of dynamism, a player that we can play off and bring others into play.
“The club and myself feel he’s a player who can help us in the here and now, but who can also be a good player for us in the future too, hopefully at a higher level,” said Edwards.With Manaj and Vakoun Bayo on board, the club have increased attacking options. But Edwards is still looking to further strengthen the forward line.
“I’d like to get one or two young, homegrown players on board in that area of the pitch,” he said. “That may take time though, as we need a domino effect to start at other clubs in order for player movement to start.”
