Trinity’s Andrew Tran and East Pennsboro’s Deepesh Magar are set to face off in the Mid-Penn Conference Class 2A No. 1 singles tournament Friday after battling their way to the top at East Pennsboro’s courts. Tran is the top seed of the bracket while Magar is No. 2.
Opening Thursday’s Mid-Penn 2A tournament action with first-round byes, Tran defeated Middletown’s Luke LeKites, 6-2, 6-2 and Magar edged Camp Hill’s Eli Morela, 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals. In the opening round, LeKites defeated Bishop McDevitt’s Isaac Hancock 6-2, 6-0 and Morela swept James Buchanan’s Carter Wilt, 6-0, 6-0.
Trinity’s Rowan Bayley will duel East Pennsboro’s Karem Megahed in the No. 2 singles final. Top-seeded Bayley won against Middletown’s Krish Shaw, 6-3, 6-1 to book his ticket to the final while third-seeded Megahed overcame No. 2 Xavier Jackson of Camp Hill, 6-1, 6-4. In the opening round, Shaw beat Bishop McDevitt’s Kenneth Nguyen as Megahed won against James Buchanan’s Jaren Stoner .
