A Pleasanton homicide suspect was found dead Thursday afternoon inside his crashed vehicle on Interstate 580 in the Castro Valley area after a standoff with police.

Authorities said the man was seen driving away from the residence by an unmarked Pleasanton police unit and was followed onto westbound I-580. Pleasanton police said the investigation was still in its early stages and that more information would be released within the next 24 hours.
