The DWP is currently reviewing the PHSO’s final report and redress recommendations.
Labour MP Andy McDonald has urged the Department for Work and Pensions to consider enabling MPs to “vote on proposals for financial redress” for millions of women affected by changes to their State Pension age. Last week, the Middlesbrough and Thornaby East MP also pressed the DWP on the steps it is taking to consider the issues in the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s final report.
In a written response on October 11, the Pensions Minister said: “As a newly formed Government we will need time to review and consider the Ombudsman’s report along with the evidence provided during the investigation. State Pension News Despite repeated calls from MPs to Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall and the Pensions Minister during DWP parliamentary questions on October 7 to progress compensation plans, more delays were announced due to the ‘complexity’ of the final report’s findings.
WASPI says that after 100 days of Labour being in power, pressure is now building on ministers to bring forward proposals for compensation, ahead of the Autumn Budget which will take place on Wednesday, October 30. Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Work and Pensions, Steve Darling MP, said: “The Liberal Democrats have long supported fair and fast compensation for WASPI women, and we will continue to advocate for the millions of women across the country awaiting justice.
