The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has put forward proposals to overhaul the benefits system, which could see cash payments being swapped for vouchers
The Department for Work and Pensions is considering a shift from cash payments to vouchers in a bid to revamp the existing benefits system. Under the new scheme, individuals receiving Personal Independence Payments could experience substantial alterations in how they obtain financial aid from the Government.
The "Modernising support for independent living: the health and disability Green Paper" suggests moving away from the traditional fixed monthly cash payment model towards options such as vouchers, a receipts system, one-time grants, or purchasing items or services via a catalogue, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Can PIP vouchers be claimed yet? At the time of writing, there is no option to apply for DWP PIP vouchers because the voucher system isn’t currently in use. PIP continues to be distributed through usual cash payments.
