Reports of some people receiving £150 have sparked rumours that it's a second payment
The Department for Work and Pensions has responded to claims eligible people were seeing a '£150 Cost of Living Payment' deposited into their accounts. Across 2023 and 2024, some people may be able to get up to five payments to help with the cost of living, if you're receiving certain benefits or tax credits.
Speaking to Birmingham Live, a DWP spokesperson said: "Some customers who have become retrospectively entitled were paid into their requested account today. The DWP regularly reviews people's entitlements to ensure they receive the correct payments and a change of benefit circumstances or a request for backdating when a claim is processed can lead to retrospective entitlement.
