Some say they've received what they believed was a second payment
A DWP cost of living payment of £150 has been hitting bank accounts all over the UK - amid speculation there may be another instalment.
The cash boost came as a surprise and led to many believing that a second sum of £150 is being paid by the DWP this year. The Department has now clarified what's going on with this new payout.
"Payments were made to people who were getting a qualifying disability benefit from DWP before payments to people who were getting a qualifying benefit from the Ministry of Defence. Your payment might come later, for example if you're awarded a qualifying benefit at a later date or you change the account your benefit is paid into. You will still be paid the cost of living payment automatically.
A DWP spokesperson told BirminghamLive: "Some customers who have become retrospectively entitled were paid into their requested account today. The DWP regularly reviews people's entitlements to ensure they receive the correct payments and a change of benefit circumstances or a request for backdating when a claim is processed can lead to retrospective entitlement. We undertake these exercises periodically even if the claimant did not contact us to inform us of a missing payment.
