As the Dublin Jerome boys golf team pursued a Division I state title a year ago, Jackson Pollina had a bird’s-eye view.
With five seniors comprising the starting lineup, Pollina, then a junior, didn’t receive the opportunity to play in the postseason. But he had a chance to watch and learn.
A season later, Pollina helped Jerome capture its 19th consecutive league title. The Celtics finished 20-0 in the OCC-Cardinal Division, ahead of second-place Thomas Worthington , after shooting a 288 in the fourth and final round of the league tournament Sept. 14 at Darby Creek. “That was my main goal coming into the year and I’m happy I got to achieve it,” he said. “I’m happy my hard work is starting to pay off, but we have to keep grinding and get ready for .”
That lineup hopes to help Jerome earn its eighth consecutive state berth. Last season, the Celtics finished fourth behind champion Cleveland St. Ignatius as Dublin Coffman was third .
