'Oh my God. I can't unsee it now'
Many motorists are "disenchanted" after finding out the speed camera symbol, one of the most recognisable signs on UK roads, isn't depicting what they think it has for years. NottinghamshireLive reports that many drivers have assumed that the picture is a side-profile of an old fashioned camera - however this is in fact wrong.
Twitter user @FeyeraBender apologised for "disenchanting" others with the revelation. They wrote: "For years I thought the UK speed camera sign depicted a Victorian bellows camera pointing to the right, but it's just a boring CCTV camera pointing towards the viewer. "I accept that it's not CCTV cos that's literally different technology, but w/e the stuff on the right is definitely an arm attachment and not old-timey bellows!"Twitter users were then plunged into chaos with one asking "what even is reality?" One user wrote: "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined."
Another added: "Oh my god. I cant unsee it now. It's always been a bellow camera to me." A fourth said: "You’ve upset me greatly." Others refused to accept the new reality saying: "Don't worry; it's not true, so you can all still carry on being enchanted." With someone else saying: "Stop lying, it is a bellows camera." Another simply added: "I don't accept it."
