A woman was killed Tuesday when a tractor-trailer rear-ended her car on Route 283 in Dauphin County, causing it to catch fire, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The woman was driving a gray 2005 Ford Escape on Route 283 west, near mile marker 6 in Londonderry Township when she was hit around 11 a.m., according to state police. The tractor-trailer hit the Ford, then hit the back of another tractor-trailer. The impact caused the driver’s side cab of the striking tractor-trailer to end up under the passenger side of the other truck, state police said.
The Ford was engulfed in flames when troopers arrived at the crash scene, state police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer police say caused the crash was taken to Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
