Dramatic video shows 3 barely escape SUV before train crash in Texas
Shocking video footage shared to social media shows a mother and daughter frantically running hand-in-hand away from a Union Pacific train that was speeding toward their car in Forney, a suburb about 20 miles east of Dallas.
A third person can also be seen in the clip exiting the vehicle, barely getting out of the way before the train crashes through the SUV.“A vehicle was struck by a train in downtown Forney. The train is blocking the downtown crossings, however 548 crossing is open,” police said. “No one was harmed in the accident,” police said, adding that they did not have a timeline for when the accident would be cleared.that there were five people, including three children under the age of 12, who were able to flee the automobile.
The video shows the burgundy-colored SUV spinning 180 degrees and landing against a street sign as the freight train rams into it.According to Atchley, the driver of the car had pulled onto the tracks while waiting for a red light instead of waiting behind the tracks. “The arms came down for the train to pass [and] was on top of the SUV,” he told Daily Mail. “They couldn’t get out because of the vehicle…Close seconds before [the] train hit them they jumped out and grabbed the kids from the back seats.”The accident is the latest in a series of near-deadly train incidents — including derailments — in the US.The family’s car spun out 180 degrees after being struck by the train.
