'Since LSP opened in 1976, African-American and Latino-American residents have benefitted immensely from enjoying this urban green open space in this congested city,' they write in an open letter to legislators, the governor and Jersey City residents. 'They have raised their voices with those of other caring residents of our city in opposing privatization plans – no matter what money was promised by privatizers pushing to take away parts of this priceless, taxpayer-funded parkland.'

Open Letter to New Jersey state legislators, Gov. Phil Murphy and all New Jersey African-American and Latino-American residents of Jersey City:

We carry on the legacy of African-American and Latino-American leaders who are now deceased and who have opposed LSP privatization, including Jersey City Mayor and state Sen.

Despite the false claims of billionaire Paul Fireman and his paid for group and the others who have gotten monetary donations from him, we the undersigned African-American, Latino American residents assert that they do not represent our communities’ consensus against LSP privatization.
