U.S. stocks were mixed in the final hour of trading on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down slightly. The Dow was down roughly 15 points, or less than 0.1%, and appeared to be headed for its fourth straight session of losses.
However, it toggled between gains and losses throughout the New York session as the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield pulled away from 5%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was up 0.4% and the Nasdaq Composite was 0.8% higher as investors focused on this week’s upcoming earnings announcements and the lack of major escalation in the Israel-Hamas war.
