Police still don't know any details about why the dog was shot or where. The officer did set up a GoFundMe page to help defray the cost of the surgery and anticipated followup care.
Rogers was on patrol when he found the dog stumbling down Front Street near Millers Lane. He immediately transported the dog to the hospital, where the medical staff determined that the dog had been shot on the right side of his face, with the bullet having passed through his ear canal, shattering bones in its ear and exiting under his chin.
Rocky, as the dog has been named, is far from out of the woods, Cpl. Lee Ann Tarasi told PennLive in an email Sunday night. She said the dog is in stable condition but will require followup surgeries in order to repair the damage that was done to his ear and jaw. Cpl. Lee Ann Tarasi told PennLive in her email that the department nicknamed the dog Rocky because “he is a fighter [like] Rocky Balboa and he was located in proximity the Rockville Bridge.”
