A CT scan revealed the injury suffered when Taylor fouled a ball off his foot during Saturday’s game. It’s unclear how long he will be sidelined.
LOS ANGELES — A CT scan on Chris Taylor’s left foot on Tuesday revealed a fracture and he will likely be placed on the injured list.
“Not what I was hoping, obviously,” he said on SportsNet LA. “Definitely a surprise to me, but it showed a small fracture there and it’s going to be a little longer than initially expected.”“We really haven’t even gotten to that point where we discussed a timeframe yet,” Taylor said. “Right now we’re taking it step by step and I don’t think we’ve put an exact date on when a possible return will be.
“There was nothing that showed up on the X-ray. But we want to see if there’s something that could potentially show up on the CT scan,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. Heaney threw a bullpen session before Tuesday’s game. It was his first time throwing off a mound since going back on the IL with renewed shoulder discomfort after his start on June 19.
“Things happen where you have to slow play it and you’ve got to get him through the progression,” Roberts said. “If he doesn’t feel great, you’ve got to kick the can down the road.” Treinen has been out since mid-April with a significant shoulder injury and the Dodgers have been reluctant to put any specific expectations on his return. But Roberts said Tuesday he could see Treinen returning in August.
