Visitors hope it will not detract from the area's appeal
Visitors to a 'brilliant' Nottinghamshire marina have expressed their hopes a plan for new flats will not detract from the area's appeal. to be built at Beeston Marina, overlooking the scenic and popular site on the River Trent.
But people visiting the location gave the plans a more welcoming reception. Hazel Brooks, 75, who was walking her dog along the marina, said: "Getting the balance right is important, I do not mind as long as the rest of it stays the same."The retiree from Bramcote added: "I would love to live in one of the homes that are already here so I understand the appeal. If it's carefully done and still allows people to enjoy the space I don't see a problem with it.
Mr Harrison, 59, who had just retired and said the couple would now be visiting the area more, added: "It could be a win-win for the area, if its done right. There's a balance, but it could add something and would be a lovely place to live."
