A lane is to be closed and a diversion put in place at one of Stockport's busiest junctions after a gas leak. Engineers are closing one lane of the A560 Gatley Road in Cheadle, at its junction with the A34 Kingsway as they carry out emergency work to fix a leaking pipe.During the closure, traffic will be restricted to one direction on Gatley Road. There will no left or right onto Kingsway.
Instead, those heading to Gatley or wanting to get onto Kingsway will have to follow a short diversion down Wilmslow Road and Schools Hill instead. Bosses at gas company Cadent admit the closure is 'not ideal' but say it is necessary to enable a swift and safe repair.Cadent Network Supervisor Trevor Hague said, “We have been working with local stakeholders to ensure the necessary work is carried out safely.
