Pasadena Memorial running back Lorenzo Delgado has been named Newcomer of the Year by the district coaches, The sophomore was the district's third leading rusher this season to go with eight rushing TDs.With 23 players garnering all-district honors, including three among the specialty awards, the District 22-6A football coaches richly rewarded unbeaten and district champion Channelview in a lucrative way.
Deer Park, which also placed over 20 on all-district, featured Luke Webb capturing the Defensive Player of the Year Award, thanks to Webb co-leading the district in tackles for losses with eight. Canales was the district's No. 2 rusher, finishing with 675 yards over 69 assignments. He was the player who tied Delgado for third in rushing touchdowns.
The rest of the First Team offensive crew featured Memorial quarterback Hayden Stallings, Pasadena running back Ruben Lara, Channelview wide receiver Darreon Williams, Memorial wide receiver Ethan Munoz, Sam Rayburn wide receiver Jesus Mendoza, Channelview lineman Aden Boutte, Memorial lineman Ricardo Cordova and Rayburn lineman Ramiro Torres.
On Second Team Offense, Sam Rayburn quarterback Esteban Nava, who threw for 1,042 yards and nine touchdowns, gets the list under way. The running back trio of Memorial's Jaylon Bell, Dobie's Jalen Baldwin and Channelview's Traveon Jackson were selected as were the receiving group of South Houston's Jayvion Lee, Deer Park's Hayden Smith, Memorial's Mike Smith, Channelview's David Watson and Deer Park's Joshua Mendoza were voted to the group.
They were Channelview's Caleb Atafua, Miguel Ceja, Malachi Martin, Emanuel Williams and Larell Howling. Selected from Deer Park's camp were Anthony Ortegon, Caleb Dilly, Reed Mallett, David Paul Salazar, Landon Sanders, Ethn Chavez and Tudi Gustave. South Houston's lone selection was Evyn Ponce, while Dobie had Nigel Hill, Derrick Kelley, C.J. Richardson and Jeremiah Bradley.
