When Disney took over Star Wars, at least at first, it seemed like there was a clear direction. “We are moving forward, we are doing a new trilogy set after Return of the Jedi.” That was the pitch.
In total, there are eight different time periods being focused on across all these shows and established movies, meaning most of them really have to stand alone rather than being connected to a larger narrative. We have, in some semblance of order, in addition to the three sets of trilogies:– This is Disney realizing they need to get away from only mining the Skywalker trilogy era, and going hundreds of years into the past into an unexplored era.
You see the issue here. The MCU is a connected canon, but it more or less goes in a distinctive order with movies and shows weaving in and out of each other, and only rare exceptions to that timeline . DC has split the difference by doing thatlike with the DCEU, but also allowing for four or five different universes running at the same time that aren’t all part of the same canon.
