It's been a year without an update.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Disney is officially rebooting the Goosebumps show based on beloved children's books from acclaimed horror author R.L. Stine, but another adaptation on streaming deserves attention. For many who grew up in the '80s and '90s, the Goosebumps books and TV show were a gateway into the horror genre. With such a cherished legacy, it's no surprise that the franchise remains relevant.
Though Goosebumps 2 wasn't a hit with critics, its box office return was a win, but more importantly, it proved that there was still interest in franchise adaptations. Two years after the movie sequel, a TV reboot was announced to be in the works. Like the movies, the Goosebumps reboot show's trailer teases a new group of teens who unknowingly unleash supernatural forces on their town.
Leigh Janiak directed all three Fear Street movies and had shared plans of continuing the franchise depending on how well it was received by Netflix and the streamer's viewers. The ending of Fear Street 3 interestingly concluded with a cliffhanger that could be continued through a new movie or some kind of series. In addition, several elements and characters were introduced in the Fear Street movies that could be the basis of a continuation.
How The Goosebumps Reboot Could Help The Future Of Fear Street Even though there haven't been any updates on Fear Street's future, it's still great to see a new Goosebumps adaptation getting released on popular platforms like Disney+ and Hulu. Interest from longtime fans and newcomers could actually be beneficial to Fear Street. With Stine's work back in the spotlight, it could cause renewed interest in past adaptations, such as Netflix's trilogy.
