Pro-Palestine activists gathered at The Mound in Edinburgh to protest Israel's actions in Gaza, as part of nationwide demonstrations. A small counter-protest of around six people carrying Israel flags also took place at the site.

She adds: 'Don't forget where you were in 1940, ha. Don't forget where the Jews were in 1940 and 194. All in your camps.'#Nazi on the streets of #Glasgow. The girl draped in the Palestinian flag taunted #Jews about concentration camps. pic.twitter.com/upxmNc8AGW 'Sad thing is most of us don't have half a clue about the complexity of the situation that is playing out before our eyes. Spouting nonsense like this doesn't help anyone or any cause.'

Chanting slogans such as 'Free, free Palestine!' and 'From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free', demonstrators marched up The Mound and along Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile as onlookers including tourists watched. The protest continued outside the BBC building amid criticism of the corporation for refusing to call militant group Hamas 'terrorists'
