A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Insurance department, which oversees the state Fire Marshal's Office, said the explosion is under investigation and referred questions to Castro County Sheriff Salvador Rivera, who did not immediately return phone calls for comment Thursday. “It’s mind-boggling,” Dimmitt Mayor Roger Malone told USA Today. “I don’t think it’s ever happened before around here. It’s a real tragedy.”
