Real Betis are reportedly in a fight to sign David de Gea as they prepare for a trip to face Rangers this Thursday.
Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that Manuel Pellegrini's club and Valencia are two La Liga sides fighting for the experienced goalie's signature, who is still a free agent after leaving Manchester United in the summer. Betis come to Glasgow on Thursday hampered by goalkeeping issues, as first-choice shot stopper Claudio Bravo missed the weekend's loss to Barcelona, and they lost back-up goalie Rui Silva at half-time to a groin strain.
Third-choice Fran Vieites came on and the Spanish media reports claim Pellegrini's men "cannot afford to wait until the January transfer window" to sign another player in that area. The goalkeeper hunt has become a "priority" and "they have their sights set on a renowned name" which would help them both on the domestic front and on the Europa League stage.
Rangers take on Betis on matchday one and six. Michael Beale has injury issues of his own though with Todd Cantwell and Kieran Dowell out, while Danilo has suffered a compound fracture after a head knock in a 2-0 win to St Johnstone.
